Friday afternoon dog

We have all giggled at the anecdotes about Monday morning/Friday afternoon vehicles(don't ever buy one we all say). But perhaps there is something in it after all. I have the internal order confirmation for this sprinter(I always ask to see it as they always try to miss at least one of my options off) and if you look at the attached extract, paying particular attention to the production date, guess what! And I suppose it must have been afternoon once they had finished fitting all those goodies?

I can't really afford to change this van yet as I budgeted to run it for at least 5 years but maybe I can't afford not to change it! It's a gamble but what else can go wrong?

And yes they did almost miss some options off this van, I asked for a long range fuel tank and extended tail light wiring(L76) and they tried to give me a standard tank and front fog lights(L16) instead. I had even given them a printed list with all the option codes on it, what more can you do? Luckily I checked.

most alarming the rust coming through on most of the joins and seems on the panels not much but it is all over and in 5 years it will be ripe

Any news yet t29sab?

Reading your earlier posts I spotted your trackrod mention and the 2 worn tyres. When Merc replaced my trackrod I was left with the steering wheel about 5 degrees off straight so I knew something was amiss. I had the tracking reset myself ASAP as the dealer was dismissive of my concerns saying tracking was not a warranty item!!!!!!!!!

I suppose you don't really want the corrosion rectifying as with seams and joints it will soon be back. A replacement vehicle is the only option?

He's absolutely right. Tracking is not a warranty item. But shoddy workmanship by his staff is!
Had similar with a back street tracking guy. Wheel was slightly off centre. Went back, he appologised and put it straight back on the ramp.

Privat i drive a Honda Legend, What a car that is. Bullit Proof and build to last. When i tinted my windows i took the door panels off and there is thick waxoil inside the door, none of this i found in my 5 year old Mercedes Vito.
I bought this van in December 2005 for my business and sold my trusted ford transit who never let me down. 3 months after buying this mercedes the problems started. The engine has been in and out and is still not running. The vito's suffer from design faults like injectors and glowplugs seizing up in the head as they screw directly into the aluminium which is made of a poor alloy. Rust prevention is none existing. dispite it being the nicest looking van on the market, it is of very poor quallo! I dont think i will ever buy a Mercedes again!
