Miles between faliure?

I'm on a limited budget of about £5,000 & most of the cars in my price range are high milers. With this in mind I have two questions. . . .

How many miles will an E class engine do before it's likely to start costing money?

Are any members cars very high milers with no problems?

I know people who have done 200K without so much as taking a spanner to the engine.. And i know people who have done well over 600K with only minor repairs on a diesel engine...

Just makesure you get an immaculate history...

ours has done over 200k (1989 230E) with no major faults and only a few minor niggles

It uses no oil or water and has good oil pressure.

Well looked after they'll go on forever.

Well it's too late to worry now I've bought one I got a MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS 220 Estate hope it's OK it's got 117,000 miles on it.
