Diesel exhaust has never been as pleasant as Chanel No 5, but now we have new odours to contend with as motorists put anything the car will run on in their tanks. Bio-Diesel we know, it has a rather sickly smell to the exhaust. But now, reclaimed chip oil is very destinctive the exhaust running on this is very reminiscent of "Frying Tonight" some of the other oils being put in are only a little less iffy. Rapeseed oil and ground nut oil give a acrid smell and olive oil is pungent (even the extra Virgin). Any chance that diesel driners might start using Cod Liver Oil and then their cars will smell like WWI airplanes.

Ever smelled a petrol engine when it first starts and before the catalyst is up to temperature? Now that is a stink.

That rotten egg smell was hydrogen sulphide. I have not smelled it for some time. Have things been improved, or do I just need to get out more?
