New tyres bald after 900miles? HELP!

wow, were you there on that day back in summer 1988?

it had been dry for a while, i knew the chevette needed rear tyres but they were just legal - nearly. then sudden downpour of rain and chasing a porsche (i was 18 and still unaware i was NOT invincible!). i had been enjoying the opposite lock for a few corners, easy peasy, then the major swap ends and backwards into a telegraph pole. bye bye chevette and hello a healthy respect for my newly discovered fallibility. all in all a cheap lesson and my only ever car crash.

I wasn't there but I did a very similar thing (although thankfully I only hit a kerb and bent a wheel and half-shaft) in an Escort 1.6 Sport in about 1977.
