Can anyone suggest where to buy bargain-priced tyres for a 1984 280SL around Twickenham/West London area?
I would also be interested to know whether anyone has an opinion if one brand is particularly better than another.
Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks, David. I gave them I call. I do most of my mileage on the motorway and I am a bit worried about puting budget tyres on. I haven't had to think about replacing tyres on a car for 20 years so I'm a bit green.

Feltham Tyres quoted me £115/tyre for Continentals but www.e-tyres.co.uk were a bit cheaper and they do Pirellis for £118. Is this about par for the course for performance tyres?

I run Ceats on my 190E. They are 'budget' tyres made by Pirelli but I consider them to be excellent quality and superior to the Dunlops I have previously used. Ceats are available from Kwik Fit and are often on special offer.

Sorry, Andy, I think they are 215/65/15/Z although the 65 may be 70. The car is in for a 144K service today so I can't check again and I left the size on my desk in the office.
