202s are good - just look out for rust on boots / door tops as in this forum..

220 cdi is the least depreciating of all - try to get a high spec on e(leather etc etc)

Roman,

As I understand it the C200 is not as refined as the 220 CDi...it has been launched onto to the UK market mainly for company car drivers who are taxed on how much CO2 an engine generates. The 220 produces quite a lot of CO2 for a diesel, hence the launch of the 200.

If you are running it privately I would go for the 220, it more powerful and more refined and theres not a lot of difference in fuel consumption.

In terms of buying from Europe, there's not a lot to save nowadays, as UK list prices have dropped and the £/Euro exchange rate is not in your favour.

I would go and have a haggle with the dealers....play one off against the other or maybe go for a nearly new car, ie 6 months old. There are loads around and certain dealers are always keen to cut a deal. If its a new car, I would rather buy from a dealer than a car supermarket, as you have the security of having a three year unlimited warranty/mobilo life etc from Mercedes UK

Where in the country are you?

I bought an import 6 months ago from www.motorpoint.co.uk and got 12% off the UK list price. The best offer I got from haggling with MB dealers was 6% off. With an MB to trade in you might do slightly better though.

Very true. I was lucky that they had almost exactly what I wanted at the time when I wanted it. I'd just sold my last car and MB were quoting 12 weeks' delivery... I wasn't at all looking forward to 3 months sharing my other half's car!

That said, car supermarkets tend to stock the most popular choices anyway, and some extras can be added afterwards.
