Quick update I decided to go back to the Italians so I purchased a 2016 Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale
I love this car!

That doesn't bode well for the coming 4 cylinder C63 replacement, it may be a wound-up version of the same basic unit, but this sounds to me more like a fault with the piston, cooling maybe, rather than something inherent in the general design of the engine. 258hp is not a particularly high output for a modern 2 litre engine.

Slightly worried C300 owner.

Wot interests me is "always no 1" that indicates a cooling system design failure prob in flow rate around liner or a manufacturing defect creating a hot spot. Either way a benz issue in my view. Prob is brits /Europeans second class cits v yanks on such issues. Good luck
