Considering buying an 85 190D 2litre auto for £500.

Anything of which I should be aware?

Advice appreciated. Please and thanks.

Now, how does that saying go...

"There's nothing so expensive as a cheap merc..."

There are many things to look for as when buying any used car. Maybe you should get an AA or RAC inspection if you are serious about buying.

Other 190 owners may give you some specific pointers...

Thanks, A.

Good advice. Appreciated.

I've decided to wait, save money and buy a later model later.

It may well be a great buy for £500, but at that age you need a detailed inspection to make sure.

I wouldnt be warned off just because its cheap... I have had a few 190's and 123's that have been near perfect for less than £500..

Just get the engine, gearbox and body checked by someone competent if your not confident...Then just push buttons and makesure everything works.. Parts are not too expensive for these....

Even if the body is a bit marked etc, if the important bits are ok then could be a bargain...
