Please help......

Story so far, about 6 months ago the car (2013 R350) kept dropping at the rear, then a rear air bag exploded in spectacular fashion before I got a chance to replace it. Both replaced by myself for new.

Issues I'm having since the above -

1. I keep getting the malfunction message on the dash (pic of car with an arrow pointing up). This comes up after 2 to 3 minutes of driving and only after being sat over night or all day. If you go shopping for an hour and drive home, no message.

2. When raising the car, it does so without issue, however after reaching maximum height the compressor switches off as expected but then restarts after about a minute and runs untill the malfunction message comes up.

I've since replaced the compressor and the valve block, again for all new parts.

The car does not drop at all and I've checked for leaks, found nothing.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Have you had a diagnosis carried out or just guessing?
Was the air bellow you replaced a merc oe part or aftermarket? Sometimes aftermarket bellows have to be replaced in pairs as they are not compatible with an oe bellow.

I've not had a diagnosis done yet, unfortunately my nearest merc garage is miles away and being new to the area I'm struggling to find an alternative specialist.

By bellows do you mean the air bags? If so both rears replaced together with aerosus parts.

The compressor and valve block are also aerosus parts.

I've got the original valve from my R Class knocking about somewhere if you'd like it .... it was replaced by MB when I had a problem with a strut on mine

Yes same part, different terminology. Have you levelled vehicle on star after fitting new parts?

No I haven't, car sits perfectly though so didn't realise I needed to.

I'm guessing this needs to be done at Mercedes or a specialist?

Thanks but I have a new valve fitted, I'm assuming the issue is something else.

Probably a ride height sensor issue or calibration, but not worth the guessing, get it on the diagnostics, Merc dealer or specialist is best
