Since returning from Hughes MB for a 60k service the cruise control seems to be on the blink ... tho' I'm not sure if it worked before as I hadn't really tried it!?

Once the speed is set the car then hunts around that speed. That is, it accelerates rapidly, stops, then accelerates again, etc.

Any ideas on a root cause?

Thanks,

Tim

these cruise controls are a pain on the 107. It's probably a degraded transistor somewhere in the brain, or it could just be a poor contact in the control arm, or a bad pick up from the abs.

I have a c/c brain from a w 124 300D. I'll happily send it along for you to swap out, and if that fixes the problem, you can pay me the £30 it cost me. If not, you just send it back and pay the postage both ways.

Search on cruise control, and you'll see the fuller description of it in the parts for sale bit, along with part numbers etc.

... You have PM ...

Errr ... no you don't! Can't seem to be able to do that?
Was going to send you my address.

Your suggestion seems fine! Certainly worth a try. I've got the feeling that all my problems could be related to poor connections though? Might get an electrical specialist to test out all dash connections?

Myros ... is there a less public way I can send you my address?

Thanks,

Tim

you could try and PM one of the Moderators, ( Blobcat, SlinkyJoe, DaveSL) and see if they can pass it on to me. Alternatively, get posting like mad and get the PM priveleges as soon as you can. Or hope the mods see this and step in to help.

Ahhh ... I didn't appreciate that there was a posting threshold before PMs were allowed? I tried to PM and you and it kept saying that you didn't allow PMs to your address?

Makes sense now! :D

Excuse my ignorance but who is this great Malcolm of whom you speak?! :D :D :D

I will try and check later in the day, dont know if it applies to your car, there was a problem with one of the hall sensors in the speedo head, and this could also be the speedo problem,if not a sticky pin in your other thread.

Ah ... just thought I'd ask as I'm out West-ish!

I'm in Devizes and am obviously looking for a reputable service specialist ... and a sparky too by the looks of it!

I am in Lyme Regis, but I do not stand on my head anymore doing these things.
With luck, someone will recomend someone, I know of one in Exeter, but its a long way from you.
