Hi All,

Fitted a new MAF & air filter and still have the problem of it running in "safe mode" 3000rpm Max!!.
If the car decides to run normally & you put your foot down it sometimes goes drops out of gear until you slow down where it goes back in again.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce:confused:

Either that or an independant MB specialist. Who fitted the MAF for you?

Where are you? Someone should be able to direct you to a decent indie. Avoid the dealer as you will pay for every second of investigation and at £100 per hour, that gets very expensive very quickly.

I assume you have an Auto box, being an S-Class, so its quite possible you have an Autobox fault, as the 'box is capable of talking to the engine and putting it into safe mode. I've no experience on Merc 'boxes, but my Rover SDI box experienced some strange gear changing before eventually 'locking' into second gear requiring a new 'box!

Pls don't take this wrong, but did you touch or spray anything on the MAF?
As per previous I would have the fault codes read and then report back.

Might be an idea to check the ATF level in the gearbox.....Check for any leaks..is there any 'wetness' under the car in the g/box vicinity?
