Well it looks like am a glutton for punishment. I owend for a fee week an S350 CDI AMG and had nothing but problems. So much so the dealer baught the car back.

I still have the itch for the Luxurious wnd of the market and am now looking at either an S63 or CL63. Cars im looking at are 2007 2008 and between 75000 miles and 95000 miles. Im loiking for advice on what i should be looking out for, any concerns etc. Ive been told coil packs are an issue and also gearboxes are an issue. Basically im looking for help. It could be i just walk away and leace the itch un scratched.

Thanks in advance

Mechanically they are the same. Coil packs and plugs can be problematic, but not expensive to fix.

That engine range is susceptible to head bolt corrosion and cam lobe wear, so buy with a good warranty! (or check that they have been done). Otherwise rock solid drive train.

Do check the sound system works reliably, as amplifiers fail often and are expensive to fix.

I wouldn't be shy of another MB just because of a bad experience I had had with one. These problematic vehicles can come from any manufacturer you care to mention. My Son-in-Law bought a year old Jaguar XF 3.0S and had nothing but problems with it, so much so that Jaguar bought it back from him. He then bought an MB which has been faultless. Go for it !! :)

Well the first ones are mechanics items, check the paperwork to ensure they have been replaced in the past? If not, there is no way of telling without taking the rocker covers off to see if they are the old style head bolts.

Lifters and cam lobes can be heard to tap at idle if they are worn

the radio is pretty self explanatory - if music comes out of it and it does not cut in and out then the amp is ok.
