the passenger seat on my 320sl when i press the ajuster only moves forwards this happend last week .however this morning it is ok.do i now disconect the switch and live without an ajuster or is this a simple thing to fix

Before you give up on it, try a few carefully aimed sprays of WD40 inside the seat motor and the inside of the switch, it may be that the switch and or motor are worn, and sticking.
