Update :)
Well I had a very nice trip to Malcolm's today, got the SL plugged in and wow 55 faults, the only thing that didn't have a fault was the headlights, a reset and all reset without any faults :D

Now to the keyless go, Malcolm says I have been given the wrong key from Mercedes, but bless him, he did try to link to the car, but as you can guess it didn't work.

I left, with the roof down and had lovely drive home and straight to Mercedes Plymouth to return the key they supplied.

The parts guy said it was the right key as it was supplied from Germany, said the problem is probably a fault with the system on the car and not with the key, but as I or they didn't have one of the old cards they couldn't test so it must be the car at fault.

I explained to him what Malcolm said (and others on here) wrong style buttons, he tried to phoned Germany to find out what was the way around this, but the person he needed to speak to was day off, so I have to wait for him to call me.

He said again that the cards are not available anymore and the key has the necessary stuff inside to do the job.

Malcolm, I really appreciate all your efforts and help today, it was good to put a face to a name, you are a star.

Hope to see you again at the Jamaica Inn. ;);)

Nice to see you Ian today, there is nothing wrong on the car as the keyless go system tried to activate both cards.

Just tell them that they key they supplied is too small to have the keyless parts inside.

Did the engine perform OK.

That is the nicest 55 that I have ever seen, every extra possible and all in super condition, a great find :D:D

It did perform well for a good part of my journey home and then it started playing up, it almost feels like the supercharger is dropping out, if that is possible, the exhaust sound isn't right either.

Now I have the evidence from the expert, I will keep on to them, will keep you updated.

Thank you for the very kind words about my car I do love it very much, should have treated myself long ago.

Nothing at all came up other than the normal motor electrics, I should have read that one out first, but every test by 1 had an F, once cleared they all went, I started the car and did a re test and all good.

I did not remember that there was a separate thread on it

I don't think it's an high temp issue, I managed to drive on the overrun for quite a while (downhill) at one point and when I put my foot down it was still flat.

Coming up Haldon Hill on the way home, under load it seamed to be cutting in and out and by the top it was good again, it seems that if I floor it it will keep going but if I lift and accelerate again it's gone.

The only engine malfunction was the one called 2.8 motor electrics, the standard one when the battery goes too low and the engine runs at high idle.

I was supposed to have had a call from Mercedes today regarding my so called keyless key, but no contact.

Mark RMK, do you have an original "keyless go" card or a "keyless go" key that I can buy from you, I can send you my vin if you can, just want to get everything working that should.
