Want to get 4 new plugs for a 1998 C180, does anyone here know the type of plug I need and also what the gap setting should be.

I'd buy from Mercs, they're only £3 ish.

According to Haynes:

1.8 & 2.0 engines up to 06/97 Champion C11YCC 0.8mm gap

1.8 & 2.0 engines from 07/97 Champion RC8VTYC4 Gap not adjustable

got mine from g.s.f for my 97 c200...no adjustment needed...about a tenner+vat

The proper answer is it is very easy.

You just give your VIN to the dealer parts person, he looks up the computer, and finds the correct part number of the plugs for your particular car.

You walk out with new plugs correct for your engine, and properly gapped, and at competitive price.
