Sportline suspension - Conversion

I want to convert the chassis on my 1991 300CE to the factory original sportline spec. What are the differences, if any, besides the obvious springs and dampers? Where can I find settings for alignment set up after conversion? any help appreciated, dealers are not much help.

Sportline suspension

Sportline lowers the suspension by 25mm, to do a complete conversion you will need springs, shocks and wishbones. Total cost from dealer-£frightening.00
If you use a lowering kit (4 springs drop of 35mm) you will get a very similar effect for a fraction of the cost. You need to consider the wheels, are they standard 15" or something else. If you have low profiles on say 17" rims they will probably foul the inner wing on full lock with a lowered suspension.

Hi David,

I would go along with David Halsey. The true complete conversion is too expensive. Buttttttt, I have converted my own 300e 124, Using sportline shockers & springs, including the modified bump stops. I have to admit the handling compared to one of my other loan vehicle which had just lowering springs. The sport line was much superior. Don't get me wrong. Just by lowering your 124 with out the need for "Carlos Fandango Wheels" The car performed admirably. With the sport line stuff, it was just that bit better & it is noticable. You don't need massive wheels. The standard 195/65/15 will do. Try loosing the vehicle with these tyres ( I am talking a good make not rubbish). You have to be close to 3 figures before it even starts to loose traction.  It should be noted that if you are driving at these sort of speeds. Once the back end leaves, theres no getting it back. No matter what tyres you have on. Unless you have three lanes to play with. During normal driving the suspension is not intrusive. Although if you put 17 or 18" wheels with 45/40 profile on. You will feel every little brick in the road, let alone pot holes.
