Hello,

I joined this site as I a couple of days ago I had the message "Transmission - Consult Workshop" from my car.

Not quite sure where would be best to put a message so I thought I would start here here and see if there were any sugegstions.

I live just be Cambridge and work in Bedford. Could anyone recommend a good independent specialist?

It has even been suggested I perhaps just need the tranmission fluid topped up rather than anything more expensive. Any thoughts??

Thanks

Tony

Welwyn Mercs are probably your closest Indy.
Get it read on Star and see what errors it has.

Thanks, Welwyn Merx are not the closest Indy but they do seem very highly regarded so will go to them.

Thanks so much for the advice

Not Sure if your car is a W245 or W246 B class (cvt or 7DCT auto) I Had this issue on my W246 7DCT auto the root cause was traced to a loose earth connection on the engine/gearbox

Thanks Phil,
The star diagnostics for my car said the transmission unit at times did not know how fast my car was going.

Fixing a loose earth will be much cheap than replacing the electrical unit.

Thanks again,

Tony
