Hello,

In the confusion of hours of internet surfing, I asked about the wrong vehicle before!! It's actually the Viano that I've seen in campervan form, not the Vito. (Thanks to those of you who replied anyway).

Just to re-iterate - I am currently looking at options for buying a campervan-type vehicle. The obvious option seems the VW, but I like the spec of the Viano conversion but know nothing about Mercs. Are they reliable/expensive to run/insure? How good are the Viano campers?

Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks.

Ridley.

i am not an expert on this subject.

But I drove a sprinter conversion in Oz a few years back. it was good. the viano looks a mess but if you are insisting on ruining it further by getting a camper conversion then i dont suppose anyone would notice really.

That well known company Hymer, use Merc stuff for the drive train, chassis etc.

The issue here is that the viano is a car style mpv with car internals. so it may be reliable but humping extra weight around all the time may add strain.

where as sprinter versions are used to humping weigh about so should last the course, but they are commercial and therefore could be a bit rough and ready.

you need to go to one of them shows that these things are shown off at, and take a look.

Mind you, I would stay in a hotel and drive a nice merc to and fro! does that help?
