Help!!
we run a 99 vito 110cdi, engine duff so we purchased a engine from a 2002. all the same except for the fuel pump side.On our old engine , it has 2 wires that operate the ful cut off.On the newer engine it hasn't got this,so we swapped the fuel pumps over. When we try to start, all we get is a initial fire then nothing.Turn off the ignition, have another go and the same applies. Is this to do with the pump that we changed or is there something we should be looking for?
Help please guys and girls, as our van doesn't earn any money off the road.

Cheers
phil

sounds like the fuel shut off valve is not opening, loosen an injector pipe and turn the engine over should be diesel comming out of the pipe. ps i take it that you have bled the system

Yes, system filled up manually through the fuel filter. There is fuel coming through the injectors but not a lot of pressure behind it.

I have the same problem did a head swap (we took engine out) refitted and initially it fired up but wouldnt rev above 3000 and engine management light is on after a few test drives it cut out all together, all we get now is an attempt to start but wont fire up. if you slacken off the injector there wont be much pressure.. this is normal as it isn't a conventional timed pump. The pressure is build up in the common rail and pressures it up to the injectors. the electronics will do the rest. in other words if you get fuel to the injectors it should work. unless you have a faulty injector or pressure regulator. if there is no pressure the injectors wont work they shut down!
