hi guys wonder if you can help,
when replacing arb bushes on my w210 estate,do i suspend the weight of the car
1/
on the jack points on the chassis...(which will mean that the suspension is fully extended and therefore when the car is put back on the ground, the arb assembly will be under some compression.)

OR
2/
under the suspension as close to the wheels as poss, simulating the car at rest...(which will mean that the suspension is at its mid way point of travel so that at rest the arb is not under any appreciable stress at all)

probably fundamental stuff,but i just don't know

thanks
phil

I would have jacked the car in the normal way, place an axle stand or similar object under the bottom wishbone and lowered the car to a convenient fitting height, the further out it is placed the more effective it is.
