My indie has a brand new water pump part num 102 200 0420 80 but on research I find it is listed for an M102 engine but the MB models listed are W460 and W463.

Does that mean it is not suited or will not fitted a W124?

Does the from engine to engine asterisk notations on the RU site diagrams correspond to from year to year.

How are the numbers that follow interpreted?

Are the part numbers perhaps superceeding parts?
I have just clicked on the numbers on the right hand list with ** and it list the serial numbers of the engines.

The "007* WHEN REPLACING 102 200 06 20 BY 102 200 09 20,EXCHANGE ALSO COOLING WATER HOSE;
SEE CHASSIS MICROFICHE,GROUP 50", listed on clicking the 007* led me to think that the replacement of .....520 by ....920 was a supercession upgrade. But I think the serial number part of your comment answers my first question as to what those numbers meant.

What I didn't do was make it clear enough that I was making a distinction between what are clearly part numbers and the mystery numbers

the only way to find the appropriate (current spec) part number for your water pump is in conjunction with your VIN.

Whilst your engine is a 102 engine, the parts specs and numbers are always evolving.

If you can supply a chassis number, I'll have a check for you.

Cheers,

NEW Angle

I have researched more and the partnumber is for a water pump intended for 300D Gwagen, 250D 124 (turbo), 300D 124 Turbo, etc.

Question: is it likely that this amounts to a harder working water pump and will be more efficient on a normally aspirated engine than the original watepump for a normally aspirated engine and hence more beneficial?
