hi,
I replaced the front discs/pads on my E400 today and was wondering about the paint Mercedes (Brembo) use to cover their discs, it's that grey paint that more expensive discs come with and protects from rust/unsightly marks, the discs in the picture below are for the rear (not the front) and I'm only showing them to highlight the paint...

is that paint available for sale ? does anyone know what it's called ? it really does look good on new discs and I'd like to use it on discs that don't come with it by default

cheers
niall

I have used Zink Plate before , also i have used red lead on older cars ,But keep it of the disc face where the disc pads make contact and where they bolt to the hub and the wheel ...You could try HT paint in a rattle can . Because the discs do get hot at times

I am sure the protective paint is only to stop the brake rotors from going rusty in the box on the parts shelf! I also believe it to be a cosmetic zinc based paint. If you want the brake rotors to be better protected I’d paint them with smooth hammerite, but not the rubbing braking surfaces or the mating surface with the hub.

people often mask the braking faces and spray the hubs with hammerite.
