It's been a while since I've frequented this forum, I was led astray by various BWMs and Jaguars!

Next potential purchase is a 2020 MY C Class Estate. I see there are Diesel and Petrol options and was wondering which is the best.
Both seem to have the same EV range, and approximately have the same performance.
I won't be doing massive mileages (10k per year max), and have picked the 2020 model so I can get the full digital instrument panel.

I have slight concerns about the diminishing range of the battery as the car gets older, but will probably only keep the car for 2-3 years before moving on to something else.

Thanks for reading.

Absolutely but also MB don't warranty batteries after 3 years so a step into the unknown.

I would be looking at a C43

Welcome back. I would say any non-hybrid model is the best. Mercedes are not known for the quality of their battery/hybrid offerings so make sure you get a good warranty on transmission and battery as repair costs can be eye-wateringly expensive

I still have nightmares about the £2k bill I had to pick up when the 7 Speed Auto in my CLK went FUBAR (@56k Miles)!

In fact, thinking again maybe I should avoid Mercedes all together, I don't seem to have much luck with them!

1. 2009 CLK Gearbox (above)
2. 2013 SLK Heater matrix (Luckily I noticed this when I picked it up from the dealer at the other end of the country!)
3. 2021 A Class which needed the heating control panel replacing ((Took 3 visits and a video for them to believe me that the car was trying to cook me alive)

If you want a hybrid buy a Lexus, 10 year warranty on everything if you have it serviced by the main dealers.

Saloon wise an ES300h should fit the bill otherwise an NX300h if you want a mid size SUV

I hear what you're suggesting, but Lexus doesn't really float my boat.
Find them a little bit boring, and Japanese infosystems seem to be lagging behind most other countries (IMHO)

Not sure a 2.0 C class hybrid is very exciting. Think you may find the infotainment systems on Lexus have come on leaps and bounds

MB are not noted for their hybrid, I would steer clear. Issues with AddBlue would keep me clear of diesel, so I would go for petrol.

I drive the latest generation E300 petrol with the mild hybrid and its brilliant.

Average 45mpg on a run and 32mpg urban.

I do miss the torque of the diesels but not noticed the economy drop off too much.

I "might" be looking for a new company car, so always good to hear that
