Why do I have the feeling that it might have been a bit neglected before the current owner bought it? Awful under car lighting...

Not quite - I've had the M6 for four years now - brake fluid change every two years (@ around £50.00 per) and oil change every alternate two years (@ around £120 per). Each time thery check whatever it said needed done. That was the one thing that pi**ed me off about the MB - everything requires being done every year

for the shadows and spirits rust, corrosion at the engine liner seals, spares availability, emission regs in a few months means can't dribe round the M25 (or pay £12 each time)

the later models after these hideous styling

for that one its a BMW 7 series and likely something very wrong for the price

in today's world a 10k Hyundai is a more accomplished, safer and reliable car

180k was probably for a new stop tail light
Engine out and a new loom which comes with a bulb and sub computer then it's a simple firmware recode and software update, sorry forget you do get a new rear-light unit with it.
All done in Munich of course.

I worked for a guy who fancied and bought a RR, 25 years old with service history. He sold it 1 year later 17k lighter as things just failed a lot.
He then bought a fishtail Corvette which he later found out needed all the suspension replacing. You win some, you loose some, His side hustle is cars.

I've never ridden in a Goodwood-built Rolls, but I would expect to notice something a bit better than a £10K Hyundai... The technology is light years ahead of anything Crewe built. I wonder if I will ever get to discover for myself? Probably not...

I've had old Bentley's, and the Eights and Turbo R's that are not looked after are shockers. The same with the Shadow's and T's, unloved one are bought buy people who dream of owning them. Trouble is they don't know how to drive or look after these old clangers and they end up scrap.
I had a 2 year old Shadow in 1980 to use for a few weeks, it was like nothing I'd driven before. 10 years ago I looked at a '78 RR and there was no comparison between the 2 year old car and this 44 year old RR. It shook, rattled, knocked and banged while driving along, mind you it was only 6 grand.
You can still get a good, well looked after older RR, but you have to falk out stupid money

To be fair, I’m not sure anything less than preventatively rebuilding the car every other year could prevent those problems… like the heavy maintenance D checks they do on aircraft!

Most BMW’s I’ve owned were like that. Everything made of naff plastic and prone to cracking.

Last BMW I had was an E23, cracking car should have kept it
