Im at my in laws 220 miles away and have just discovered that one of my front tyres are gone. A quick look at the mobile tyre fitters and they wont cover the bank holiday weekend and i need to be home in tiome for work. My spare is practically new but is 215/55 16 and my others are 235/40 18. The rolling radii is almost the same give or take 6mm. Any opinions

Cheers in advance

Will work ok, at speeds of more than 70mph you may find the traction control and cruise playing up, if so just slowing down a bit will correct things again....
No real difference from driving with a slightly underinflated tyre.....
It is possible you may be able to buy a can of the tyre inflating gooo from a service station if you just have a punctured wheel...
Just leave in plenty of time and drive carefully...better a few hours too late than decades too soon...

I have used that goo, and while its good stuff, its get me home. It states it shouldnt be used more than 50 miles, and not faster than 30MPH

Sorry should read the rolling radius is almost identical 312 vs 313 and the rolling circumference is 7mm out 1961 mm vs 1968 mm.

The difference between new and worn tyres is a few times greater than that. I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference for normal driving, but I'd be happier with the spare on the rear if that was possible.

I assume that your car is a W210 from that tyre size.

Assuming that the spare isn't a space saver (and from that size it doesn't sound like one) then there's no real problem mixing tyres that way, after all those with a staggered setup would have the same problem.

As it's on the front you may experience a slight difference in the steering, but not much.

Journey was okay but i took it very very easy. So easy I almost averaged 50mpg (from a E320 cdi). Boring
