Hi all,

Mr newbie here!!!
Yesterday my son decided to remove the keycard from my Blaupunkt stereo in my E300 TD.
When I came back to the car, the stereo read "wrong kc".
I tried re-installing the keycard in every way possible & cleaning the chip, but to no avail.
Is there some sort of code that needs to be inputted at this time?
Really pulling my hair out cause I luv the sounds in my car!!!
Please help...:(

Sounds like you have an aftermarket stereo fitted.

These keycards tend to fail due to bad contacts on the card reader and the chip on the card.

I've had one of these before and you should just need to insert the card to enable the stereo - it's designed to do this, so that when you leave the car you remove the card and place it in your pocket.

I found that mine did get troublesome as it got older, hence why I replaced it on that car with one where you removed the front panel instead.

Thanx for your prompt response.
I thought this might have been the issue as the card is showing a little wear around the edges.
Looks like I might need to invest in a new head unit!!!

Cheers once again.

I think that Blaupunkt stopped using the keycard system some time ago.
To be frank, it's probably cheaper to get a new stereo head unit than get a new keycard and the radio decoded.
