Yellow LED's in Arm Rest Compartment

Just picked up an e270 203 in mint condition with full MB service history.

Can any one tell me what the yellow LED's are for in the arm rest lower compartment ?

surly not just low level illumination

I think that is exactly what they are for. Have them in my CLS as well.
