You reckon F1 guys are good?

I reckon these guys are way ahead in ability. How they keep these cars on the road is unbelievable. WRC Rally Oz. The 2015 event is due in early September. Am considering making the pilgrimage.

I remember watching a segment with Martin Brundle and he said that he thought WRC Drivers were the best in the world and couldn't understand how they didn't get more attention in the world of the media.

I went and watched the WRC in Cyprus in 2005. The TV doesn't do justice to the speed they carry through corners and on narrow dirt/gravel tracks.

I had a job to do at Boreham in the early eighties and had been photographing prototype RS1700 build up, we were running a few mules around and got the offer of a ride around the Boreham rough track........with Ari Vatanen.........it was an experience that just cannot be described, it all happened so ****** fast eveything was blurred! Well he could have driven around that circuit with his eyes shut I swear, absolutely amazing.......and still have a signed poster from him on that day

Purely as a result of not being able to easily watch the events from a comfortable chair or to be able to see all the competitors on the track like in circuit racing. Thus public knowledge and admiration for these guys is very limited.

if i ever get the funds, i will have a go at this rallying malarkey. looks like my kind of thing

although i think there was more skill in the days before 4wd and sequential gearboxes (bring back the old H gate gearchange!)

I think you will find the great drivers cross over into other area's of motorsport only occasionally like John Surtees with Bikes and F1.

Its a very long hard route to the top of any high value sport these days it isn't realistic to compare them.

I agree totally. The driving styles are not comparable
