URGENT Top Gear TV programme requires:) :) a W220 S-Class (1999-2005) for their next programme when doing a comparison with the new model. The car must be in good condition and will need to be at the studio in Dunsfold, South of Guildford, Surrey on 24th May, '06 from 9.30am till 6pm. If you would like to offer your Mercedes for this exciting venture contact Grant at Top Gear on 0208 752 6324 as soon as possible. If your car gets used we should love to have photos of it on set for Mercedes Owner magazine. just email your details and photos to: jill.foden@mercedesclub.org.uk

I don't want to put a dampener on what should be an exciting day out but in the past I have heard some negative reports about the way the TG team look after the cars they 'borrow' so think carefully before stepping forward (think of all the tyre smoking power slides they love to film).

You will have to question them carefully about intended use and damage liabilities before handing over the keys to an expensive motor (and expensive to repair). Who will foot the bill if your car is given back with slick rear tyres at the end of the day? At the very least you should insist on being present with the car at all times.

Yours sincerely,

Miserable old goat.

Good point.

altho i think they may well be looking at taking care as it seem they want to compare old models with new.

best advice is to follow the above and add, they replace the car if any damage! then check for stone chips and a new car awaits.

I just don't understand why TG would need a privately owned S. Surely they would just ring MB press office would would source one from MB direct for the day? MBUK have loads of them. They probably also still have a few on their press or staff fleet.

explanation £200M /2102400 lets round that up to £100/minute to include travel time as well - i am sure after hearing what the BBC pay to the 'presenters' that should be fine. Funny how television companies always want to do things on the cheap when joe public is involved but money is no object when the lovelies are involved
