Hi,
I have just exported my 2009 CLC 200 CDI to France and would like to register it there.
The headlights are halogen (these ones : https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/magneti-marelli-1853180.html).
Do I need to change them completely in order to comply with French MOT standards ? (apologies if the question has been asked previously!)

Thanks
Sophie
From pagec1:
"Model 172 and 204.9 with halogens are adjusted using the range controller (must be checked with headlamp aimer)

Model 204.0/2 as of YoM 11/1 and model 204.3 with halogen headlamps, no headlamp adjustment is necessary!"

The acid test is when you shine low beam against a wall the beam pattern must not 'kick' up to the left at all.
If it does you will need to change the headlights.

Hello everyone!
Does anybody know if the headlights on Cls 350 grand edition 2010(uk registered ) needs to be replaced in order to register in Romania by the EU regulation? Or is it possible to adjust from computer or manually somehow?
Any advices would be much appreciated!

If it’s the same as a 2011 212 E350CDI, you can switch them left & right hand dip in settings on you screen.

I am afraid that I looked in a cluster menu and I could not find anything about switching the lights

Even if there was, I doubt it would be sufficient for permanent export. I reckon you'll need LHD headlamps

That is what worries me si much, so the car was about 5000£ and is costing me about 1000£ for the lights, I was just hopping for a quick fix

If its not in the menu have a look on UK eBay, I am sure some will come up.

If it helps my R230 sl 2007 has just passed it's matrichulation test in spain. I have xenon lights and all that was required was for the lever on the headlights to be turned. It mean't that the light had a flat beam and this is apparently acceptable in " Europe ". Saved me over 4000 euros

Just about to do this myself with my 2010 e350.
So you just adjusted the headlights from onboard computer to flatten the beam & changed fog light from right to left or just added the left so you had 2 fog lights ?

When I reg my UK CLK in France, there was no negative comment about about rear fog placement.
I bought a set of used LHD headlights for 200€ (leboncoin) and swapped them myself. Passed the CT without any problem.

Headlamps with projection system (vehicles with halogen, xenon or full LED headlamps) ....

Model 216, model 211 with Intelligent Light System and model 207 and model 212 up to 30.11.09 (YoM 09/2) with bi-xenon headlamps are adjusted using STAR

Model 172, 207 and model 212 as of 1.12.09 (YoM 09/2), model 204.0/2/3 with Intelligent Light System and model 218 with full LED headlamps, adjustment is done using the cluster menu.

Model 172 and 204.9 with halogens are adjusted using the range controller (must be checked with headlamp aimer)

Model 204.0/2 as of YoM 11/1 and model 204.3 with halogen headlamps, no headlamp adjustment is necessary!

All others are done using the levers inside the light unit.

Where about are the levers inside the light units, i need to change mine over it was registered on the 21/1/10

why only the left? My R Class with projector headlights had two as did my Vx Omega with HIDs....
The SL500 R230 I took to Le Mans did as well. Right pain to get to the levers but both headlights had them

I have one of those early 212s that doesn't have the adjustment in the cluster - my dad's 212 which is just 6 months newer has it.

Has anyone found a way to do it without taking it to MB - via iCarSoft, Carly, or some other convenient way?

S500 (W222) 2014. Turbo 4.7 V8 with loads of toys. Superfast luxury.
Ill be going to the Geneva Motorshow next year in my W211. It has bi-xenon headlights. I bet there is a charge for changing them for use in Europe if STAR is involved! ****** hell...
My previous car was a 2004 W211 and that had a switch inside the headlamp to switch it. Feels like a paper clip and you can't see it so by feel only.
I am sure there are other threads on here from the past with pictures.

My 2011 R Class is the same. Only difference is you can almost see it on the R.
