Yep, you will see more Bentley Conti GT's on the road, when I had my W215 on rare occasion I saw one, I used to always wave, normally get a wave back too:D

These cars are special.

In the 2.5 months I have had mine I have not seen another on the road.

I have to say I've noticed a lot of admiring gazes when at the petrol station. Some were even towards the car.

I take it then that the 'K' stands for supercharger and not as I thought turbocharger. i.e. whenever I saw the word kompressor I thought that was a turbo equipped car?

Dave

In this kontext (see what I did there?) K stands for supercharger.

Kompressor (stylized as KOMPRESSOR) is a marketing name by Mercedes-Benz used in supercharged engines. The term is not widely used by other motor manufacturers.

The first supercharger was developed in 1921 by a Daimler-Benz team with assistance from Ferdinand Porsche.[1] Mercedes became the first manufacturer to install superchargers on some production models.[2][3][4] The designation "K" on Mercedes usually means "Kurz", or short, but can mean "Kompressor".[5]

ABC stands for Active Body Control which is the beautifully silky wafty soft "magic carpet" ride. It's an active suspension system that keeps the car level through corners and prevents any braking dip or acceleration tilt. It's great- when it works, it has lots of highly expensive parts and needs to be kept in tip top condition- it works at something like 175bar.

7 speed box absolutely NOT on the 215, was only offered with the 722.6 5-speed. Don't let that put you off, that 5 speed is a great transmission.

Facelift I think was 2003-4. Not much change looks wise but change engine wise, was when supercharger was adopted on the 55 AMG models.

according to my star setup today ,mines runnin at 192 bar....

That's very good. The system will consider anything below 90 bar as low pressure, anything 150 and over is fine.

This could be 1 of 2 sensors, the lateral or the steering one.

CL600 engine noise

After reading all the posts and helpful advice on problems with this model I have purchased CL600. I will post piccy's and details later but my firstly I need help diagnosing a engine whirring noise. I think the best way to describe it is if I post a link to my cloud video's. I hope this is ethical and also hope it works. There hopefully is another link to you tube which also mentions this whirring noise and possibly idlers? Seems to be from the rear of the engine as it's louder in the cabin than on the outside. Also can the check engine light be extinguished without 'star diagnostics '. This light only can on when the battery terminal became detached when driving home. the noise was there prior to this happening. I was going to create an extra post but thought I would continue with my original posting.

Has anyone got link to workshop manual or exploded diagram of the V12 normally aspirated engine? .. Thanks for all your previous help/advice/warnings... Dave

Its almost like the pulsation damper, but it does not have one.

Correct...under the driver's side wing.

But that is the same thing for making a whine. I could feel mine through the steering.

I don't think the noise is steering related as I get the noise when stationary and with out turning the wheel. Seems just the other side of the cabin bulkhead. whilst all the other ancillaries are at the front of the engine..

If it's the pulsation dampener it's not steering related but suspension related. It's on and active all the time the engine is running. I've discovered myself that the sound travel from the engine bay of a W215 is a bit weird, the sound doesn't move in predictable ways and what you hear from the front may be coming from the back.

If your pulsation dampener is under the driver's side wing you may well be hearing it from behind the firewall bulkhead. Certainly there's only a few things that can whine. Is it the ABC pump itself, does it sound a bit like a knackered turbo?
