Thank you very much. One day I hope to upgrade it to a newer one, that depends on ROI this one generates. Just reading the manual, so many buttons...

Is regular diesel Ok for this engine or does it require something like V power?

It should be OK: just try to avoid buying diesel after a delivery (the muck in the tanks gets stirred up).

Just ordinary diesel works fine, at least that is all I use.

Two questions: none of the cigarette lighters work, can't find the fuse chart in the manual.

Secondly, quite a bit of oil on top of engine cover. Any ideas what caused that?

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
The fuse chart is in with the tools or folded up in a fuse box, it will be fuses for the lighters

Looks like someone has been adding oil from a 4 or 5lt can without using a funnel shaped filler.. and didn't tidy up afterwards

I noticed that when driving from cold start in the mornings gearbox doesn't change at same low revs as when engine at normal level, it keeps it in low gears until revs reachs 2500. Perhaps that's normal.

It is normal and used to help bring the CATs up to temp more quickly

Thank you. One more question - is it Ok to switch off the engine in neutral gear and start in neutral?

Developed a knocking type sound coming from the front when driving at slow to moderate speeds (uneven surfaces). What are the possible issues here?

Worn ball joints, or other suspension joints

I know, I am taking it there for a service in Jan, but he is fully booked to do this job and it's urgent. Don't want to be quoted stupid prices when I take it in tomorrow to a local garage.

Had it looked at, it's NS front back suspension arm ball joint.
