There is no oil dipstick. Depending on gearbox there will be a tube with a cap or nothing at all (in which case a check is a top up from below).
If you have the dipstick tube (with either a black or red cap) you need to buy the dipstick as a tool .It does not remain on the tube afterwards!
Dipsticks can be found on eBay amongst other places.

great aint it. a basic maintenance tool as an optional extra !!! rad caps next ? clever boys dem benz boys...........

Suggest you contact one of the indi's. It is simple. It involves removal of the electrical connection to your swirlflap motor and inserting a 5 ohm (I think) resistor between the two terminals on the wiring - not the motor. Leave the connection disconnected and tape it up. This stops the motor working but fools the ecu into thinking it is.

Thanks I'll get them to do it
It's a 4.7k ohm resistor (20p ish ?) that is put into the middle 2 terminals of the supply to the inlet port motor , which is below the black batwing ( air intake to the turbo) . It's very easy to do , my car has one in now after some limp mode issues a few months ago .

Just reading through this thread and would like to throw this into the mix.
I have a 06 Jeep grand cherokee with the 3.0 om642 in it and 722.6 gearbox and thats about all maybe except some software that is Mercedes based.

Ok so I removed rear light units and fitted canbus led’s replacing the reverse bulbs as stock bulbs are dire. After a few days I get esp/bas light and traction control light ping up , but only when side or head lights in use.

Icarsoft bcc2 tells me its p0703 brake switch b circuit / generic which means bad brake switch or wiring / ground / bad bulb.
The fault is random (but always need side or head lights on for it to happen) and every time I exceed 50mph it pings up main engine light... only the one code still though p0703. The esp /bas and traction will be gone upon restart unless main engine mil is illuminated , which I think is because a bad brake switch could cause the torque converter not to unlock and cause engine obviously to stall if I slowed to a complete stop

Fitted new switch mid week only for fault to remain.

Found the cause this afternoon ,now passenger side earth was grubby and had a crimped connection so I thought thats the cause and cleaned it up and set about cleaning bulb holder connections ... until removing one combined brake/ side lightbulb (3157) I find the smaller of the two filaments has come adrift off its post and is laying over on the other filaments post ... hence why fault only occurred when side/ headlights on.

More memorable was the Jeep turn itself off after only running for about 15 seconds Thursday morning ,dash lit up and a nice big red lightning bolt kind off warning light greeted me.
Turn key to restart and it just keeps whirring over until I remove key (same as Mercedes in that you touch and let go of key). I cannot hear intank lift pump running so I read codes and get intake manifold / turbo / egr / and just about everything but the main is fuel rail system pressure low.

So search the internet , lift pump fuse is ok ?. Found this post

So having fitted the resistor to my swirl plug a few months before I check it out and it has been touching the engine casing and this has blown fuse 16 and ASD (auto shut down relay had stopped car.
My fault as being a clever type I cut 3 fingers off some disposable gloves and covered resistor and plug with them and cable tied in place... the glove fingers had decomposed as they do and the terminal block which I jammed vertical was now laying over on its side . New resistor and fuse 16 replaced and all codes cleared and all ok since.

Good tip on taping up the resistor buddy . The fuse is F44 on the facelift W211 (Just in case an MB owner is reading this ) in the engine bay .
