My present insurance company RAC have increased my bill from £990 to £2280, unbelievable.
This is due I think to me making a claim for a windscreen replacement, what is the point of insurance if you end up paying the bill the following year!
Unlikely. I had a windscreen replacement in 2022 and my premium only went up by 18% on the next renewal.

It’s just corruption that people can’t see through.

Set a new level of pricing for things and make people accept that as the new normal. It won’t be temporary or coming back down. It may even be a driver to help shuffle the heard along a path that’s not clear at this point.

Tried to pay Admiral for my car and home insurance this morning, but they refused to take payment due to me not reporting a miss fueling incident in April 2022. They state that the quote will now increase.................
I did not declare the incident because I made no claim!
What is the point of NCD?

I knew about that, but if you did not make a claim, how do they know about it.
If it was reported to them initially, but not followed up with a claim

Idly daydreaming about another Lotus and decided to do a quote on Compare The Market!
It's got an uprated engine (Spyder Zetec 2 litre) which I declared.
The results made me double take!

The whole system seems to be rigged now to increase quotes via any claims, incidents and any modifications. This will tempt some drivers not to insure which is not a good trend. I have now gone with Admiral Gold and got a lower quote when I included my home insurance, which they can give you a pro rata quote as the renewal dates are not in sync for the first year. Total is £1332 for 2017 SL400 + my home, with a windscreen replacement claim for last year.

Discovered that some/maybe all insurance companies use a shared database which holds claims and incidents records.

So who told them about it?
Its an interesting one that it seems to imply all work/spending on the car needs to be reported for them to consider.

What if you had simply purchased the wrong fuel and being a careful person had negated the reason for a claim by

a, not using it
b, then having it drained as a precaution,
not all "misfuelling" incidents lead to damage.

I wish I hadn't phoned my insurance company to see if it was worth claiming for the cost to resolve the issue.
I have now managed to get LV to email me confirmation on what took place and passed that onto Admiral, who now accept it was only put on the shared database for information only! Painful....

Greed is the new normal in this country now! It's being encouraged by the utter corruptable need for corporate profits! And it will only get worse as well, now in Poland the car is the one that is insured and not the person driving the thing, so as long as you have a license then it's a lot easier and cheaper too. Your personal circumstances and job and driving history is not being assessed so any chance of the price being hiked up is negated, unless a driver is convicted of a drink drive or dangerous driving resulting in a death then they are severely punished by jail and loss of licence.
Our insurance industry here is just so intent on just conning everyone just so the greedy bosses can have higher salaries and bonuses! Forget about the lame excuses being bandered about from cost of living and drivers making more claims blah blah blah! Seems like most of us drivers have had their policies doubled...or more! No wonder there is a higher number of motorists deciding what's the point of paying for it and just not bother, or just cannot afford these hiked up premiums to line the bank balances of already wealthy bosses,
This county is lost to corrupt, greedy uncaring and the grasping need to rip off everyone they can in the quest for profit! And not just motor insurance, same for any type of insurance as well!

Add the government to your list, putting VAT onto insurance premiums was a disgraceful move on their part.
