i think i got it there Malcolm, the purple wire, i shall give it a try 2morrow, i had a look at the eis, that is some piece of kit, anyway i shall get in contact again and let ya know what happens. Thanks again
most secondhand ones have faults other than the chip
True malc. You would have to be pretty die hard to invest £500 in a product that is not totally familiar, and has no support etc. You might get your money back eventually and as you may know if you have fixed things for people in the past, carries a lifetime warranty to boot.
If you fix someones key and their wheel drops off the next day; its your fault !
I am sorry, that is too expensive for me to play with as I would have to do it by hand. Though I am a little out of touch now, there are some electronic firms who have the jigs for doing this.
For anyone wanting to have a go by hand.
You clip the legs on the chip that is not needed on the chrome key, lift the chip then just with a de solder gun, suck up the ends of the legs..
To get the good chip off the old board, you just go round the chip with a soldering iron, lifting the legs as you go and remove it. then straighten the legs.
You need some glue to hold the chip in the correct place, with all legs aligned. then flood the legs with solder down both sides. And last you just use a desoldering gun to remove the solder from between the legs and job done
No problem,
Ill keep looking.
Colin.
