the purple or violet wire(starter wire) that's in the diagram and on the barrel ign does not appear in the eis system but is running from starter, so have to find where it goes

Just by putting a meter on the pins of the switch should tell you what pin it is on when you turn the key to start

i think your workin from the barrel ign, because if i could turn the key this post would never have took place ha ha, i have to transfer from eis to barrel a lot less wires on the barrel like steering and c/locking so gotta feed the coil and indicators with power, dif setup, now i can turn to red turn again for turnover so need the spark, Jesus ya would know i am so long out of this game my mind is mush

my e200 has fob/key eis, which, is there is a lot of words for this, not working is 2, so in the middle of changing to a plain e200 key ignition there is a photo somewhere here on this thread now i need the colour of the coil wires to trace, if ya know that would be bril.

so you are trying to convert a das3 to das2x? hard to see that working surely, the eis cans zillions of messages. perhaps i read you post wrongly - i will have a read from the start.

ok, this is going to be hard to work. the indiacator/wiper stalk is wired into the eis, as is the horn. the eis is needed for locking as malcolm says, also the engine ecu needs to get the drive authorisation signal from the eis. starter is powered through the fuse/relay module in the module case under the bonnet, but i think the signal comes from the engine ecu after it gets the message/signal from the eis and esm/etc module. clearly the only possible way to make all this work is to leave the eis in with key permanently installed - which will flatten the battery. sorry to say it but i just cannot see a way round this, the eis is so completely central to the whole caboodle.

a s/h eis cannot be programmed to your car, unless you buy the £400 ak400 in the link i posted. even then it may not work. if you had a s/h eis of exactly the same part number you could swap over the chip though, assuming the identity chip is not at fault.

looks like it joe, but you could try swapping the chips as i suggested - all you would need would be a known s/h good eis with the same part number, and the ability to swap a tiny chip with a squillion pins. i have an eis, what part number is yours?

calling malcolm or paul, who fancies a challenge!!

Not those chips for me,,I stop at keys and they are bad enough.

Incidentally I have the worst possible eyes, since 7 years old, I sit under magnifying glasses, I should never have gone into electronics
