Lovely alloys but the tyres are Bridgetones so i think i may be changing them to Dunlops or Goodyears and put the Bridgestones on ebay.

Yeah good call I hadn't spotted that ! I have Bridgesones on my A6 hate them! Too hard. That said the Dunlop wintersport 3Ds are going on on Monday for the season which will help . I've the same on the SL too now though sadly won't get much use from them as it's laid up poorly atm as you know ....

The drive was great, virtually all motorways but I averaged 30.6mpg.

After 3 weeks of ownership i can categorically say i love this car. Puts a smile on my face whenever i drive it. I have completed afew small jobs already.............

Treated all rubber seals
Replaced high beam and sidelight bulbs (Osram Night Breaker Laser and Philips WhiteVision)
Checked boot seals for leaks (none found)
Checked boot is totally dry (it is)
Cleaned rear wheel arches of mud
Treated a small bit of rust in the engine bay
Made sure water drains are free of crud.

But i still have a few jobs to do.......
Air box drain mod
Lubricate a sticking foot brake pedal
Repair drivers seat bolster (leather wearing a bit)
Remove secondary CAT's and install an x-pipe
New front and rear tyres (the fitted Bridgestones are too noisy)

I paired my smartphone with the built in bluetooth but there is bad echo on the other end of the line so its not usable unfortunately.

Remove secondary CAT's and install an x-pipe - One of the best and cheapest things I've had done on a car to make it sound better.

Interesting to read about the Bridgestone. I've got Falken 453's on my CLS and on the concrete section of the M25 it sounds awful! I'm unsure what to replace them with but tyreleader seem the best on prices so far.

I'm unsure about the tyres as on a smooth road the Bridgestones are ok so is the issue with noise the tyre make, the tyre width/profile or the wheel size. If i change the tyres to the recommended Goodyears or Dunlops will the issue be resolved or should i downsize from the 19's to 18's? I don't think i will know until i make the change.

I have found the Goodyears to be better than the Dunlop, and last longer, Both quiet soft tyres. 18 will give a better ride.

Great looking car, looks like telulite silver the same as mine which looks lovely in the sunlight. If you live anywhere Aylsbury then Ant at powerflow is a top bloke for any exhaust work doing, and I found a great mobile leather seat repairer who makes the drivers seat like new and cost £60.

The colour is brilliant silver. I have an exhaust place near me that i have had a reasonable quote from to remove the CAT's and add an xpipe but thanks for the recommendation. I found a site that does leather repair colourant kits for £30 which ihave ordered, i think all i need is to recolour as there is no damage to the leather.

Problem is I like the 19's, i think the size is perfect on the SL. This needs a bit more thinking over.

I used 19" and agree, but I juggle the tyre size to give a larger side wall and a very good ride,

Having a larger sidewall will make your speedo read incorrectly. The only way to have a larger sidewall and an accurate speedo is to reduce the wheel size.

18s look OK, and were original fitment, with none of the ride issues, although I think MB fitted 19s on the F1 models
