Use your finger?
Sorry! But as above (although Polypropylene is not at all the same family as Polythene )- Milk bottles and such are PET so you'd be better with an old shirt packet wrapper or something like that, or as you say the old bonnet catch....

Araldite seems to have stuck well.
Wether it stays when it flexes who knows.

Black silicone sealant would have been better than Araldite IMO or do nothing.

Unibond outdoor extreme in black around £5 , and if possible ( although it might be over doing it ) put couple of tiny screws in leavening the heads out few mm to give whatever you use something to catch on .

Always the first to get bitchy .... ;)

Banality at it's best.

And then you ignore the "advice". Can't wait to see the pics once you have sanded it down and 2k painted it.

Didnt ignore the comments, just picked the best (based in advice) stuff I had handy .... as the wheel was off and I needed the good weather to finish the derusting.

If it fails, then I can rely on the useful comments, and go and buy something reccomended.

Imo when gluing these weird plastics its very useful to know what has definitely worked for some people.
Because if it fails to bond then you often have to waste time removing the failed product.

Anyway grateful to all those who posted useful stuff.

Why not use the correct thing as used alll over all cars...polyurathane liquid rubber such as Sikaflex in tubes like silicon, available from all marine agents if not available from your local motor factors, builders mechants also stock iit as iit is fully paintable.

MB under trays are rubbish anyway, for DIY. A right PITA to remove, drops all sorts of oily crap on you.

Why not take the 'terminally damage' thing down the tip, then you can see if any real issues develop?

An under tray will conceal a leaking gearbox pilot bush, for example.
