Just there to stop exhaust gas leaking out
Just there to stop exhaust gas leaking out
I'd of thought that's to seal exhaust gases though not coolant ?? Does the base of the egr sit in a moving torrent of engine coolant?? Anyone !!!
Could the coolant be coming out of the hole on the base of valve? What is the hole for?

There are different versions of the egr for the different om642 versions then.
The om642 in my 06 Jeep just uses the large o ring only to seal it as per the valve in the eBay link below

Carly - (my bad not icarly) It's a scanning tool - I like it due to the wireless comms with the OBD port and it does everything my Icarsoft MBII does:Whats icarly ??
I changed this today - the one i removed did not have a washer neither did the one I bought - would it cause any issues fitted without this washer? That’s the exhaust back pressure sensor , 24mm deep socket to remove it , watch the washer below it , don’t drop it .
I think it will put the car into limp mode if you drive it .
About £60-70 for it ?
My W211 has a washer , I’m not sure on your W212 buddy ?I changed this today - the one i removed did not have a washer neither did the one I bought - would it cause any issues fitted without this washer?
The egr , turbo actuator, exhaust back pressure sensor and inlet port motor are all on the same fuse , so a fault with one can be hard to pin down .So this is the state of my EGR valve removed today:

It was much better than I expected - was expecting much more carbon - I'm thinking now that maybe it wasn't the EGR that was causing the problem but something else?
Can I do the inlet port motor trick on my OM642?The egr , turbo actuator, exhaust back pressure sensor and inlet port motor are all on the same fuse , so a fault with one can be hard to pin down .
