My new white E coupe was treated with Diamondbrite a few months ago. I have followed the maintenance procedure of using Diamondbrite shampoo and the conserver every month. My feeling is that dirt may be easier to remove, but certainly not just with a pressure washer, requiring use of shampoo and a washing mitt.
After a long 2500 mile trip to France & Spain there were a lot of flies and tar spots on the car. The flies came off reasonably easily (they may have done so of course even without the Diamondbrite treatment, but with a decent wax protection). However the tar spots were a real problem to remove. I was told that using the conserver neat and leaving for 5-10 minutes is what is required but I still found that the tar did not want to come off without multiple applications of (expensive) conserver and much rubbing with a cloth. I had hoped that the advertised smooth paint surface would have made contamination easier to remove. I did have a bottle of Halfords bug&tar remover and that was absolutely useless!
With a white car, tar really shows up! So the question I pose is: what is the most effective tar removal treatment?

Get a clay bar and some lube, only problem is you have to wax the car again when you finish as the wax protection is practically taken off during the process! Petrol will remove far spots also!

Claying is not an option with a Diamondbrite finish as the 'guaranteed' finish would be affected! Petrol may be an option.

I use some Diesel on a cloth, not the best way but it shifts the tar.

The only good stuff that breaks the bond with paint is the purple Methylated Spirits..
Rub it with a rag soaked in it and it should just wipe off like butter would.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I must admit that meths, white spirit & wd40 would be easy to use but I shall have to check with the suppliers of Diamondbrite if any of these suggestions would have a deleterious effect upon that coating.

Hmm, I wouldn't bother too much about Diamondbrite waste of money in my books. Better waxing the car every now and then

But the very nice salesman gave me a great deal on the Diamondbrite and said it really did work.

Taken from the Diamondbrite website!!!

Due to environmental demands, car manufacturers now have to use water based paints. Whilst being environmentally safe, they are prone to fading and oxidization.
Diamondbrite is made from refined rock oils that are formulated into a 2 stage process so that each
product compliments the next and builds up to create a tough durable glaze. The entire process when
carried out by an approved Diamondbrite applicator is now covered by a lifetime guarantee from the date
the product is applied.
The hard, high gloss protective skin that Diamondbrite creates prevents road salts, traffic film, acid rain,
tree sap, insect fluid and other atmospheric pollutants from contacting directly with your cars
paintwork. Fading from ultraviolet light is virtually eliminated as is nitrate etching caused by bird
droppings (as long as it is washed off within 7 days and treated Diamondbrite Conserver).
Once treated with Diamondbrite, you'll never have to polish your car again. Your vehicle will look as
good as it did when it left the showroom, thereby improving its resale value.
Another major benefit of
Diamondbrite's high gloss finish is the ease with which dirt and grime is washed off the paintwork.
To maintain the vehicles appearance, simply wash down using the Diamondbrite Car Shampoo followed by the use of Diamondbrite Conserver (on a monthly basis as a rinse). Both the shampoo and conserver are supplied when the car is Diamondbrited in the first instance. Further supplies of these and other Diamondbrite after care products can be obtained from the Diamondbrite Center or direct from Jewelultra. (It's worth noting Conserver is used by the worlds leading airlines to protect the paint on their aircrafts)
The vehicle can be washed as many times as required. The continued monthly use of Conserver maintains the protection and is essential to keep the guarantee valid for lifetime. Certain other paint protection products available do not have such maintenance procedures like Diamondbrite and it has been proven after a few month of normal use these products deplete and eventually disappear altogether leaving no protection.
In order to maintain the paint and fabric protection to its optimum level an annual inspection is recommended. This inspection is normally carried out by your supplying Diamondbrite center.
With Diamondbrite the vehicle can be passed through a car wash or jet wash as many time as necessary, as long as 25ml of conserver is placed on the front panels and bonnet. The car wash/jet wash will then distribute the chemical all over the paint ensuring continued protection. It should be noted that Jewelultra do not recommend the use of a mechanical car wash as it has been known for them in extreme cases to remove pieces of trim and scratch paintwork.

You may be right but I shall see how the finish performs over the longer term. Certainly at present after a few months, the bodywork shines and beads as if well waxed.

I am aware of this and really need to see how it performs over a longer term! Tar is not directly mentioned but I had hoped that the surface finish would result in the tar being easier to remove. I am awaiting a response from Jewelultra to this very query!

(provided you keep topping it up). I suspect my car wax has a lifetime guarantee if I reappy monthly.

Can someone please explain what possible effect this would have on resale value? You, or a selling dealer can just pop some cheap polish on and it will be precisely the same.

I think it depends upon the cost. It does remove the effort of applying wax and so far with mine it does retain a shine and water beading. Not sure there is any advantage of this over wax for resale value.
