"Too me its luxury, classic, and even has some mean US 50's mustang in the mix".

Pray tell, were are the US 50'S MUSTANGS you make reference too??? Mustangs did not come out until 1964/65.

Blimey dont people get critical. I apologise of course. I was referring to the 'feel' or essence of a US 50's & 60's . Its what artistic types call influence ;)

I didn't actually mean the parts were from one, LOL I should have been more clear about that
However I SHOULD have said the SL not slk. I dont know how that slipped on there

But as your curious now, have a look.
Take a look at the MB 130sl (the Other one I mention)
Take a look at this mustang

The exception to the new MB I feel is the skylight headlights I'm not all that keen on.
But the general style and feel of the new design is unmistakably similar. Funny how also the marketing blurb is using words like 'contemporary and 4 generations'

I'm tempted to say the W126 or the W124, probably because I have one of each, so I may be slightly biased! However I would like to propose the humble, but probably peerless, 190e in either 2.0 or 2.6 format. For sheer reliability, durability and timeless elegance I think this should be in the top slot, or at least the top three.
The Mercedes 190 was a masterpiece of good old fashioned mechanical engineering - in fact over-engineered by a factor of 2 or 3. Yes there are more striking, aesthetically pleasing models, but for all round ability the Mercedes 190 still represents one of the most sensible second hand buys even eighteen or so years after production ended.

I would go one model newer and say the 140, the build is just ridicules in terms of over engineering, it would seem that all bad points on the 126 were addressed on the 140.

Nothing has been spared, sure the 126 is easier to work on, out of all of my cars that I have owned, my 140 coupe is the hardest to do anything on, I have even given up on some of the things that I wanted to do.

If we are having a “Top 10 of all time” what about Bottom 10 of all time? I still have a laugh at the A Class W168, doing it’s flip over testing . I was once offered a W168 as a loan car during a service , which I duly refused, only to be told “that’s all we’ve got Sir” So I insisted that I have the Principles dealers car and he could have the A Class

A loan E Class was quickly found:)
