Fortunately the dealer is going to replace my defective sensor on the CLK 209 under what remains of the warranty but he informs me that it can be removed from the front without removing the bumper, they just pull it, some how, which breaks the tabs off then push in the new one. Does this sound feasible?

Ah the joys of Mercedes ownership, my head rest has stopped going up & down when lifting the front passenger seat any ideas?

Thanks Malcom, yes I'm going to get them to have a look at it, just wondered if it was anything obvious I'd have ago myself.

I would like to know how to remove the sensors on my A 150 please in order not to break any plastic bits, please send me the instructions.
calvert302@tiscali.co.uk is my address.

I do not have these printed off yet, you may have to remind me later in the day and I will see what I can do

One question before I start stripping the bumpers and try to replace sensors; How do I know that it´s just one or several sensors that is broken? Could it be a electronic problem higher up in the control system?
.

Fast diy test for sensors:
Turn ignition on (or start the car, remember hand brake!) - Reverse on - listen each sensor carefully, closely. You should hear faint ticking sound if sensor is ok...

(sorry if the trick was already known, I didn't read the whole thread)

facelift models with the sharper nosed shape bumpers, you have to remove the whole bumper to get at the sensor!

i only know this after replacing my E55 front bumper with a facelift E63 one!

Hi malcolm- just bought a 2005-2006 (new model) ML-350.
Front sensors are fine but rear sensors hardly work at all- the LEDs seem to light but no sound until you are right on top of the object. A copy of your guide would be useful please if you could send it to me please.
