No oil dipstick indeed, electronic display saves all that trouble...ahem
ATF Fluid is 37,500 miles - there should be an indicator on the dip stick showing if it has been changed
If your back is done in, that's not a job you want to be doing for sure! (And as you say it's nasty orrible stuff)

Sorry, forgot this was a reply to MalcQV....

Thanks. That dipstick is the little tiddly doins on the end of an oil filler pipe. Looks like it should be a long dipstick but is only about 2" long?

Sorry Malc, I should read my posts before posting! No, no dipstick either, what you see is just a tab.
Your MB dealer/Indy will have the dipstick itself, it doesnt live in the car....

Right, cheers. Something I need to look into. There is some service history with the car but I have not noted ATF change but then I was not specifically looking until reading this.

I read a few pages back about somebody changing the automatic gearbox oil. How often does this need to be done?
I just did a Service A which is just engine oil and filter. I'll probably have the ATF changed at a garage, it sounds messy.

Get the car up in the air, drain the fluid, remove the oil pan, remove the filter. Reassemble in the opposite way. You can also drain the TC on some cars (not all). If you can there will be an access cover, rotate the TC to get the drain lined up and drain.

There not easy to find, but sometimes a oily greeny fluid can be seen where there might be a crack on the pipes.

Eventually W-M will get it to play with, they can usually be found with a UV lamp.

Praise indeed , I know you like a little clean as well

Puts mine to shame ... it is pretty dusty atm. Either CL500s let more dust into the engine bay ( and all the rubbers fit etc.) than SL500s ... or its just this sustained dry speel until today? :(

It's the dry spell. Either that or CL500s of all ages attract more dust while standing still too..!!!

Wives eh!

Indeed! Mine opened a gate for me to go through in the 129, then got a text, let the gate go as she reached for her phone and it swung shut and hit the rear quarter as I went through. Then she denied doing it!

Wives - who'd want one....;)

I always open the passenger door before the wife gets in , she thinks i am being a proper courteous husband but in reality it is to stop her rings and nails scratching the paintwork around the door handle.

Lets just keep that quiet shall we.

Yeah just wait till you have a big argument, in my case about who you can be friends with .... especially if they are 37 years younger and happen to be utterly stunning!
I like her for her mind, she makes me laugh ... seriously funny girl ... honest!

And the wife tells you what she thinks a fair settlement would be ... er ... you suddenly start to really appreciate her :):):) LOL
Rear quarter panel ... nada!

I have a similar issue with opening the doors, 'just slowly click the door open and wait for the windows to drop that little bit instead of grubbing the door open, that way you wont put undue wear and tear on the door window supports and the roof top rubbers' Utter waste of time o_O:(:alien:
