At least you got to own a 63!!! It's a shame you couldn't keep the AMG and lock it up. I'm sure the CLK 63 will become a future classic.
The 320 cdi's are great cars, so its not the end of the world.

They are going up in price..
WBAC contacted me three times with increased offers..
I have nothing to hide.. I got £25k back for it..I paid just over 26k

Nice car Simon I love the colour combo it looks like Tenorite Grey which has a blue look to it. No doubt you enjoyed the 63 but I definitely see them as a second/weekend car unless you're lucky enough not to have to buy the fuel to feed it.

I like the alloys they look right on the car and as long as you put premium tyres on them I think the comfort levels are ok. My son runs a Scirroco with 18in wheels and the ride is excellent on Pirelli P7 tyres.

Enjoy the car and yes your mum would approve.

Thank you Malcolm..
I very much appreciate your comments..:)

I fully appreciate the diesel, have driven 300k diesel powered miles very happily and reliably.

Just not quite as happily as the last 17k V8 powered miles ;) :)

Enjoy the car Simon

Used to have a C63...
As has been said Simon, at least you scratched the AMG itch! A path you know I've been wobbling down here and there!

New wheels look very clean - I agree with the steering wheel change, will also be easier to keep clean / hide the finger prints! :D

Simon, that car looks so much nicer than all the silver ones. its a shame you couldnt keep the 63 but your fuel bill was more than my salary at the moment! would i have one? yes in a heartbeat. would it be a keeper? not on my salary with those bills! but the V8's are on my bucket list. it would HAVE to be the AMG if it were a mercedes V8 though. im pretty sure the lesser ones have the same (or near enough identical) fuel bills WITHOUT the 'boy racer' bits im starting to hanker after. besides, apart from the badges on the boot lid and the colour, i reckon in a car park most people wouldnt be able to tell them apart! it looks to me like it has all the AMG kit on it, so its a diesel AMG!

as i said, shame BUT we have to be practical, and you now have a car you can AFFORD to enjoy as well as WANT to enjoy. if that all makes sense

I do sense your disapproval Mr geed....
I allowed my Heart to rule my head when i got the '63
I am the sole bread winner and I now have a mortgage and err bills.
Yes everyone does but its all rather new to me and I cannot be wreckless with what little I have..

No there is no disapproval on my part Simon. Sorry if my post came across that way. It wasn't meant to. I'm happy for you that you are now in a car that suits your needs.

Why did it use 3 x the fuel on one leg of a return trip, or have I misunderstood?

I drove to Bristol in the '63...

I drove from Bristol to home in the CLK320 Cdi

Just pointing out the difference in running costs.. Not subtle !!

Simon, Back in 2007 I had a C320 CDI for a few days as a loaner, it was a demo and up for sale, I could have done a deal but I did not. However the power of that 320 CDi suits the c class range very well indeed, I was very impressed with it. I think the colour is Tealite Blue looks very nice with the light / bright interior.

Simon I bought the AMG as a second car and it is perfect for that. They are no use for the daily commute unless you have very deep pockets. I do use mine a couple of times a week to keep it run in, and we're currently in The Hague, having driven there in it ! Kudos to you for trying it though, maybe one day....

John, your a great bloke but I would never allow you to be with me near a MB showroom :)

It was tempting though - a CLK (for a CLK lover), low mileage, tidy, rare, AMG etc.etc.

We only went for a look...

I too would have found it very hard to resist such a beast
