It could indeed be due to a lack of exhaust back pressure, but I doubt from the missing cats, maybe a compatibility issue with the turbo actuator? The position of the variable vanes have a marked effect on back pressure, which in turn will have a marked effect on EGR flow. However, we would still expect the mod to work in place of the EGR system, stopping the code from being logged? Also, I note the MAF values look good (nicely low) with EGR valve or mod fitted - bit of an odd one! We would be looking at live data etc to troubleshoot it I would think, especially if it has predictable faulting behaviour.

It could be an ECU or software issue, but do not expect anyone to be able to fix it if it is!

Have you tried with the mod fitted, and EGR still connected and working?

We have seen 3x now with OM646 that only log the 2355 fault at approx 70mph cruise. Cruise at 55 or 90 (apparently) and they were fine.
Of these 2x were cured with the mod running in connection with the EGR. The third has yet to come back for further investigation (after we replaced a clearly fubar EGR valve, but still getting syptoms as above).
Both the 'cured' cars had had extensive money spent with other garages, including main dealer, apparently.

Hi Alex I removed the flaps and, with connected egr I have P2355 error. To solve this problem should I connect your "cdi3 egr bypass mod" and egr at the same time?

I would say yes, worth a try.

OK friends, is there any noticable loose of power and torque after instaling this emulator? Can someone explain detailed how to wire this? Im interested to fit this in e200 W211 2005 and can someone explan to me is it OM646 or OM611 engine? In info on instrument clusster is writen: OM611DE22LA85 What this mean? It should be OM646 engine inside. OM611 have vacuum EGR - OM646 electronic EGR??? In car papers in engine section is stated that engine "code" is ( first 6 numbers ) 646951, is it ok?

Hi Alex,
I am just new to this forum, I have and hopefully a quick question for you.
I owned C220cdi 2008 W204 646811 engine and I am looking for the suitable diagram for the EGR emulator. I have been reading this forum I know they are several diagram for different model but not sure which one is suitable.
The last diagram I saw has 2.7KOhm, 22KOhm, 643Ohm Diode and BC337NPN Transistor.
I can provide email address if necessary.
Thanks

Not sure if this will work on yours, but think probably yes - you need to check the signal output type from the airmass meter.

Thank you Alex, Today I ordered parts all except Diode, in shop they didnt know which type of diode because they have about 5 different types of diodes.
PS It is electronic EGR Wahler

As above, 1N4001 or 1N4004 and many others should be fine.

Alex or anyone can you help or point me to the correct thread ?

We Have a Vito W639 120 3.0 V6 CDI 201hp EDC 16+ with a failed EGR and wanting to do a EGR delete, but being a Frequency MAF can we do it ?

This vehicle has a 4 pin MAF with

Pin1 12V
Pin2 0V
Pin3 analogue 5V pullup - thermistor (I believe IAT)
Pin4 5V frequency output – 1.8kHz at IGN ON engine not running increasing frequency with airflow

Thank you Alex,

Can you help me to identify pins & wires on my ECU, I dont even know which model of ECU is in my car... Is there any detailed pictures or wiring sheme of ECU?

I believe that the only way to delete this type is by remap of the ecu. I have the same issue with a 3.0 litre Fiat motor.....

@Alex Crow

I dont need to hide this "emulator" in ECU box so basicly can I connect it directly on EGR Plug and MAF ?

1 Wire goes to pin 5 on MAF
next 3 goes on EGR Plug directly or how ?

on egr plug, but you can connect them directly on cable near the ecu.

Someone can say me if the 1N4007 diode are ok? I can't find the 1N4004.

I dont need to connect it on ECU because it is more complicated and Im not experienced in car electronics, so I asking for wiring method directly on EGR plug. I checked in Bosch esiTronic for wiring diagram of EGR, but there is all data about shemes except EGR. Thank you

We do not know of any mods that work with the frequency modulating MAF sensors. It is certainly possible and probably quite simple in electronic terms to do, but most of us here are mechanics first and electronic engineers second/fith/not at all (delete as required).
