Replacement strut, who has a good eye

I find my rears settle to about 1 finger thickness above the top of the tyre after a week or so.

Positive, that is what I was charged two months ago. MB have reduced their price.

I just got quoted £997 less 10% discount from Inchcape. So that is £898 including VAT.
This includes the little pipe that screws into the Strut, not the pipe on the other side of the HP coupling that I think goes tomthe control valve unit.

Lol what oil are you using!! The oil is 20 quid from ebay "Pentosin CHF 11S" . And as for labour, it's only a strut, I'll do it myself in the street.

The total cost on this is going to be roughly £150 give or take with the various exchange rates on dollars and euros

They said it was Pentosin CHF 11S, and from the dealer, about £16 per litre. Replaces #001989240310
- is that not the right one?

If you buy the oil from MB it will be the correct Pentosin CHF11S, just rebranded. They're fairly similar-ish in price, depends on who has a sale on really.

NSR ABC strut completely goosed, corroded through so I will check Inchcape (thanks Submariner) and MB Grangemouth for prices on new.....
On the upside the offside looks ok (so far).

The MB garage that Welwyn Merx uses, Colindale from what I recall.

Thanks Craig, and clean is right! Had I had the car since new that would have been in my hands but..... (and the previous owner also kept them clean I can confirm, but previously who knows?)
There does seem a price pattern so I hope the strut to be no more...

I'll compare the prices and see. In saying that I was under the impression (possibly wrong) that MB would offer better warranty on a brand new part?

Arnott is 885, plus deposit returnable after they get your strut (not sure if mine can be reconditioned mind?), there's a similar service in Germany I found c800 Euros but carriage rates will be higher.

Still, I'll fit it then go get a full abc flush done with a rodeo and see how she goes from there.

Point to note, a rodeo is not necessarily required and can actually damage the car. The system you have is now 13 years old and has decayed slightly, the rodeo pushes pressure all through the system way up over normal operation.

Raising/ lowering using the dash button, driving over a bumpy road a few times will have the same effect without the enormous pressure spikes.

Just something to bear in mind.

The only bits I think the rodeo potentially puts more stress on are the struts due to their greater-than-normal range of movement. The system doesn't run at a higher pressure than normal since the pump supplies a constant pressure and the pressure relief valve is passively controlled.

No it was for a front, sorry John should've made that clear. I wasn't aware of a difference.

Was this a front or rear? Don't suppose you have the quote in an email do you ?
