Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. My mum’s S320 has been playing up, it’s about 9 years ago (I will confirm full details when she gets them to me). It has an intermittent fault where she will be parked, but the speedo will show max speed and the odometer will be increasing. It is quite bizarre and not something I thought would be possible.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on, how it can be fixed, and if there is any redress for the additional miles put on as a result?

Thanks very much.

Ronald

One or more wheel speed sensors are probably faulty, or the ABS ring in the hubs are rusted.

Probably NSF as that one does the speedometer.

I would change them all, as others will be not far behind, but up to you.

The additional miles on the odometer will be minuscule, I cannot imagine more than 10-20 miles.

Thanks for the reply. It is adding a mile approximately every 10 seconds, so it must think the car is doing c. 360mph! I’ll tell my mum and hopefully that will sort it!
