Replaced the fuel temperature sensor for £18.50 from eBay and enjoyed 1200 trouble free miles since.

In fact I am certain the car is also more responsive and smoother.

It is located as I identified above

Compatible part numbers:

Hi,

I just change the fuel temperature sensor of my w204. It took less than 10 minutes. You can find the detailed location photos below.

Thanks so much for posting this. Its very clear. I'm having probelms removing the connectorfrom my sensor .. does the gery part of the connector just pull out slightly? Thats what it looks like on one of your photo. Its feels a bit still on mine so I worried that I may snap it if this is not correct..

You pull it up and it releases the locking tabs.

Thanks for that. Can buy it for even less from Aliexpress. But what sort of a torque should be used screwing it in with that 19mm long socket or ring? Is an M12 hex. By the way, my error was 2054-007 Sensor short or open.

Take those fat air pipes off, pull out pin of clip RH side, remove (twist) pin in middle and on LH side squeeze edges in. Have new part ready from Aliexpress for $25. Remove electrics. Take 19mm tube spanner out of your plumbing kit as 19mm ring is not easy to use as there is no room. Install new sensor.

No more 2054-007 error on diagnostic or similar. This error is also allied with 254-00 error: "The analogue/digital converter of the CDI control unit N3/9 is faulty" - not so. Your ECU is not stuffed. The software has no clue if it is the sensor or the chip converting the analogue signal to digital, so it lists both.

Error message related to 2054-007 states: “The fuel temperature sensor B50 is open circuit or shorted out”. In my case the sensor still had about 1.6 kOhm resistance and 3 kOhm seems to be recommended, but anyway, I changed the part and have no more problems.

Take those fat air pipes off so you can see and work on the fuel temp. sensor. Pull out pin of clip RH side, remove (twist) pin in middle and on LH side squeeze edges in at connection to air filter. Have new part ready from Aliexpress for $25. Ask Dr Google for photos of location of sensor. Remove electrics. Take 19mm tube spanner out of your plumbing kit or use a very deep socket as 19mm ring is not easy to use as there is no room. Install new sensor, suggestion is 23 Nm torque.

No more 2054-007 error on diagnostic or similar. No more “Engine Fault” light on just before your next service is due!

The MIL light has been coming and going for a while now with some temporary ( about 1-2 secs ) power loss whilst cruising.

A read of the error codes gives P0183 - "Fuel Temperature Sensor A circuit high"

To test this, I cleared the code to clear the MIL light, started the engine and no error codes appeared. I then unplugged the temp sensor, started up and again the P0183 is back.

From looking at the service book the fuel filter hadn't been replaced ever ( no ticks in the boxes). So this was changed.
Cutting open the old one showed a black sludge about 1mm deep on the dirty side of the filter, so obviously bad.

Running the car again and the MIL light still appears, however the power dips don't seem to have come back.

So I'm thinking of replacing the sensor, but where to get one from?
EuroCarParts don't stock it and I don't want the MB premium.

So, does anyone know where to get one?

and

Is this a known / common failure point or indicative of something else?

A big thank you to the posters in this thread. Fitting a new sensor to my C220 CDI (W204) has cleared the P0183 error and engine check light, and hopefully it will stay that way! :)
