I take this stance with non keyless , a bunch of keys swinging about only serves to cause wear to the ignition key barrel .
Too many keys can also cause the EIS to think the key has been removed as the weight of the other keys pulls it down.

Simple remedy is to have the car key on its own

Park your car in the garage, never heard of one being stolen out of there key or keyless.

I wish you would tell this to the insurance companies, my insurance premium increased once the car was parked in the garage. Their reply to my query was, 'Statically more vehicles are stolen from locked garages'
Which is where one previous post of mine was when I said to them, 'in that case I will put a neon flashing light on top of the car staying keys in ignition'
I am sure no vehicle has been stolen like that so premium should be the lowest!

I wonder how much if that is due to people declaring their car is parked overnight in their garage (thinking it reduces premiums) when it's left on the drive because the garage is full of sh*te....
Car then gets stolen and the insurance company looks at the policy details and not the claim form when determining risk?

They better bring SCUBA if they want to steal the SL from @00slk

Boot seal here and on the other side has sunk like an old settee, water pools in there when it rains and once full spills over into the boot, even those silly stick on plastic things on the underside of the bootlid are no match for the seal pools

One of my bikes isn't covered if not in the garage from 22:00 to 06:00 if at home - the other isn't covered at all if not in the garage anytime at home (For theft that is)

Perfect example of conflicting information!
"More likely to be stolen if in the garage but we won't insure you if it's not".

Yep! If they have a garage then they will say parked in there thinking cheaper insurance  Like so many people in the UK they have everything from broken chest of draws to £100 motor mower in the garage and their £65000 car on the drive

My bike is in the garage, and had been since I bought this one in 2006, used until 2014 and hasn't turned a wheel since, still I insure it, you never know one day I just might get on it again........o_O

If you double-click the lock button on your key fob it should deactivate the keyless-entry function until you use the key again. This works for both my 21-plate CLA and my wife’s 16-plate A-Class.

I asked a guy at my local MB dealer about this, not having found any explanation in my car's 400 page handbook. I think he more or less confirmed what you said, but he told me that all MBs defaulted to that setting automatically shortly after they'd been locked. I think he said 10 minutes, or it could have been 20, he lost me halfway through his explanation, but anyway, he told me that double clicking wasn't really necessary.

That can't be correct as if the keyless entry were disabled automatically they wouldn't work after 10 or 20 minutes (or whatever the time period was). I suspect he was talking about deadlocking.

In 2005 I took over as Dealer Principal of quite a large Triumph dealership. As an ex-motorcyclist I thought it would be a fun job in which to end my working days. One day I decided to don a helmet and take out the Bonneville demo we had, well, compared to a modern day bike this was a pussy cat. But, after all of those years since having bikes, about 30 years, this thing scared the living daylights out of me. :D

They do say that you should never return to a bike after years of abstinence and for me that was good advice

I understood that in order to prevent Johnny Toe-rag turning up at your door with a box of electrickery to talk to your keyless 'key' while it's sat in the hall/etc, the new keys go to sleep if they're motionless for a set time
