I'll see you there Roger. :)

Mine's something like clean now but won't be on Friday when I land down there after a 260 mile trip, obviously calling at MSL Performance for a brew, so I'll have to give it a quick going over again. Or I could just go to the pub instead and think about it in the morning...

Yep, see you there Dave. I aim to be there around 9 30 - 10am, a bit later than usual.
I always have belly grumble at PCS so I'm calling into my local Toby carvery for a £5 49 "All you can eat" breakfast at 8am.
Should be on my way by 8 30am.

Leave cleaning the scoupe until Sat am. I'm sure it will only be bugs on the front end to deal with.;)

No you certainly are not. I do exactly the same as you hence I have had a clean licence 50 years. My last speeding ticket was back in 1971 (Fuel crisis year) during the blanket speed limit of 40mph, I was doing 60mph on a dead straight very long piece of road that would normally have a 60mph limit on it. It was a road that I used for my daily commute

I had similar back in 1999: Late at night, I was driving (MK2 Vauxhall Astra, 1.3l DOHC) south from Watford on the M1 to drop my, then, girlfriend back home to Willesden. I drove dead on 70 the whole way but the end of the M1 left lane that loops passed Brent Cross shopping centre has a short section where the limit is reduced, now it is 30 but not sure if it always was. I came off of the M1 still travelling 70. Little did I know a cop car had been following me since Watford (lights off I think!!!), waiting for me to slip up. As soon as I pulled off at 70 the lights went on and pulled me over at the shopping centre. Bobbies gave me a long speech about how “my car, was an uncontrollable speeding missile” that I must remain in control of at all times obeying the road rules. They did let me off with a warning thankfully (my insurance thanks them) but felt touch and go. I have always endeavoured to follow the road rules however I feel especially hard done by when I have attempted my best to follow them and fallen fowl through mistakes such as parking zones/junctions/speed limits have changed on roads I have been driving my whole life.

Mine is currently sitting at my indies waiting for a new coolant expansion tank to be fitted.
Just hoping its finished before they close at 5 30pm.

Got a message "Coolant level low" for the second time in 3 weeks this morning, but couldn't find the source of the leak.
Ran it up to temperature and under pressure there is a pinprick hole in the side of the coolant filler tank.
Ran it down to my nearest indy and luckily MB Southampton have a tank in stock. Supposed to be a quick job once it arrives, but leaving little time to wash off the mountain of tree pollen its collected in the last 2 days!

Edit.

To update, collected the car with 30 minutes to spare. £153 for a new coolant tank + fitting and anti freeze top up.
I noticed it looked cleaner and yes, they had washed it. A few water marks but a quick coating of Sonax BSD and its looking ready
for BOTG tomorrow.
A few photos later. I'm off swimming with Grandson #1.

Got back from a quick trip to Wales. A combination of my new thermostat (Well 5000 miles old) and the 50 mph average speed cameras on the M4 saw me reach an average fuel consumption of 40 mpg for the first time.

I fitted this upgrade last night to my 2011 W204 C class estate which has audio 20.

I had ordered it after seeing it online and watching the installation video once.

The unit cost about £80 from amazon (the Highway 400 is cheaper (£45-50) but no hands free phone option with that unit)…

I had tried to find out if my car had an audio in and if the aux setting could be enabled but I had pretty much drawn a blank (lots of confusing contradictory info out there online)!!

So I decided to see if it would work and if I could fit it in the car park before driving to Birmingham from Kent.

The installation took literally 10 minutes and was really straight forward.

The 12V power socket in the glovebox is now being used for power and it turns out that the little connector in the glove box is indeed my aux in socket.

A bit of fiddling with the CD controls and aux source is now enabled and I now have DAB plus a decent hands free system plus it connects to Spotify etc on my phone (and can link and store tracks which you like on the radio by pressing a button on the unit).

The reception is decent (so far it has only really struggled to get Absolute Rock on the motorway which might be a good thing)

I’m really pleased so far with the unit and everyone I called last night said that the quality of the call was really good…

I’ll post a picture later of the installed unit…

Actually managed to use mine this weekend, first decent run it's had for quite a while.

Easy run down to Portsmouth on Friday with a quick tea break at MSL Performance on the way, I just figured that it would be rude not to call in as I was "nearly" passing the place. Lazy day yesterday and a slower run back up today as there was quite a bit of traffic about. Impressed with the car, it's comfort and the fuel economy at over 30mpg. The last time I did this particular trip was in 2019 when I had the W213 E63s which was a lot more stressful for some reason, it just seemed to encourage hooliganism whereas the S Class is a much more relaxing thing to drive. It's now got just over 5k miles on it, so getting there slowly. :D
